Introducing

“P&T Leading Lights”: A New Networking Forum for the Rights to Light Industry

The Pyramus & Thisbe Society is pleased to announce the launch of P&T Leading Lights, a new networking group created to support, connect, and inspire professionals working in the field of natural light.

Rights to Light and Daylight & Sunlight Amenity are important neighbourly considerations for developers and those neighbouring development. These areas of practice will already be familiar to many members of the Pyramus & Thisbe Society, which has broadened its remit beyond Party Wall matters to encompass a wider range of Neighbourly Matters. Natural light is therefore a logical and necessary area for the Society to develop further.

P&T Leading Lights will also bring Light Knights into the forum, adding an established community of professionals focused on Rights to Light and Daylight & Sunlight Amenity. Established by Rapleys in 2022, Light Knights has hosted regular specialist events for professionals within the Rights to Light space. Through P&T Leading Lights, Light Knights will now benefit from a wider professional network and broader range of industry topics and discussions.

P&T Leading Lights aims to appeal not only to existing practitioners but also to the wider profession — including solicitors, insurers, designers, architects, software engineers, and other interested parties. The group also intends to provide a collaborative, nurturing environment for those entering the profession, offering peer-to-peer support towards qualification and beyond.

The forum is built around three core aims

01

Connection

Bringing together surveyors, solicitors, insurers, architects, and related professionals working with natural light issues.

02

Development

Offering talks, workshops, and practical sessions to strengthen technical understanding and professional judgement.

03

Community

Creating a supportive environment where members can discuss challenges, exchange ideas, learn, and build lasting networks.

“Shedding Light on Light”

What the founders say

“The Pyramus & Thisbe Society has championed best practice in Party Wall administration since 1974. Founded following the landmark Chancery Division case Gyle-Thompson v Wall Street, we’ve grown into a national organisation with regional branches across the UK. Our members range from students to leading experts. While Party Wall administration remains our core focus, many members also specialise in wider Neighbourly Matters including boundary disputes and Rights to Light. We support all members, from graduates to seasoned practitioners, in maintaining CPD and high professional standards. We’re now expanding our programme to include Rights to Light CPD, open to members and non-members alike.”

Michael Cooper — Chairman, Pyramus & Thisbe Society

“This initiative is something P&T have asked me about doing over the years. When approached more recently, the timing and platform seemed right to make this a real success, adding value to Society members and to the wider industry.”

Dan Tapscott — P&T Fellow & Light Knights founder, Daytona Consult Ltd

“We are delighted that Light Knights is joining forces with the new P&T Leading Lights forum. Bringing the two together creates a valuable opportunity for collaboration and for deeper discussion on key issues shaping the Neighbourly Matters market for members.”

Natasha Bray — Head of Neighbourly Matters, Rapleys
